- Baking Soda on a damp sponge easily removes grease from your stove, backsplash, burners etc. If your backsplash tiles have a lot of grease on them, reach for the mildly abrasive baking soda in your cupboard. Mix the baking soda with some water to form a paste that's thick enough to stick to the tiles, or simply use the baking soda on a damp sponge. Rub the mixture over the greasy spots and wait at least 10 minutes. Go over the tiles with a clean, wet sponge to wash away the paste. You may need to rinse the sponge and repeat several times to remove all of the baking soda paste.
- Grinding a cup of uncooked rice in your coffee grinder will clean the grinder and sharpen the blades. Simply pour one cup of uncooked rice into the grinder, and grind for 1 minute, just as you would with coffee beans. Discard the ground rice. Unplug the grinder, and wipe the blades with a damp cloth, and then with a dry cloth. Regular cleaning and sharpening will help the grinder perform its best, and result in flavourful, fresh tasting coffee.
